The Art of Da'wah Through Reflection (Lessons from Surah Al-Mu'minun)
We often ask ourselves, why do so many people still not believe? Furthermore, why do some Muslims themselves still commit sins? The answer might be simpler than we think, but its impact is profound: They have stopped thinking. Here is an analysis of the best Da'wah technique and why "thinking" is the key to faith, drawing lessons from Surah Al-Mu'minun.
1. Returning to the Best Syllabus: The Quran There is no Da'wah technique more effective than the one used by Prophet Muhammad SAW. He proved his extraordinary success in inviting people to Tawheed (Monotheism) throughout his 23 years of mission.
2. Evidence Before Our Eyes: Reflections on Surah Al-Mu'minun Allah asks humans to think. When humans observe the universe with the eyes of their hearts, they will see Allah's greatness that no one else can rival. Let us reflect on three evidences mentioned in the Quran:
3. No Other God is Capable When humans truly contemplate these processes deeply, one question inevitably arises: "Is there any other god who can do something like this?"
The answer is definitely NO. Therefore, there is no logical reason for humans to choose any god other than Allah to worship. This is why so many verses in the Quran command humans to think (afala ta'qilun).
4. A Simple Analogy: Respecting the Boss vs. Fearing Allah A Muslim who commits sins is actually someone who has "forgotten to think" about Allah's immense capability to punish. They fail to realize that Allah is watching them in every state and time.
Consider this analogy: We know our Boss's greatness in managing the company, raising millions in funds, and expanding branches.
We know for a fact that the Boss would not hesitate to punish us—firing us, cutting our salary, or withholding bonuses. So, we think carefully before acting. If we can fear a human, why do we not think about the consequences of being dishonest with Allah?
5. Conclusion There is no excuse for humans not to believe in Allah after witnessing the greatness of His creation. So, for the Da'i (preacher), invite the Mad'u to think. Present the Quranic verses and invite them to reflect (Tadabbur) together. This is a sustainable Da'wah technique. They may not change today, but the seeds of thought sown will grow, and in time, Insha-Allah, they will accept the truth.
